Obverse description The Mexican national arms occupy the bimetallic centre field, struck in gold, depicting the Mexican eagle displayed in left profile, perched on a prickly pear cactus and clutching a serpent in its beak and talons, encircled by an oak and laurel wreath. The circumferential legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs around the upper portion of the silver ring, rendered in raised Latin lettering.

Reverse description The reverse depicts a panoramic composition of celebrated architectural monuments of the State of Tlaxcala. The Basílica de Ocotlán appears at left, a small depiction of the State coat of arms above the Capilla Abierta occupies the upper centre, the Plaza de Toros Ranchero Aguilar is represented along the lower register, and the Ex-Convento de San Francisco is positioned at right. The circumferential and field legends identify the state, mint mark, denomination, and year.
