Obverse description The Mexican national coat of arms occupies the silver centre, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus growing from a rocky islet, grasping and devouring a serpent, all rendered in high relief. The outer aluminium bronze ring bears an oak-and-laurel wreath at the base, flanking the central device. The national legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS curves along the upper portion of the ring in raised Latin characters.
