| توضیحات پشت سکه | The silver centre field displays the crowned heraldic coat of arms of the State of Tabasco, a quartered shield surmounted by a royal crown and featuring castles in the upper quarters, a central medallion with an episcopal figure, flanked by two orbs on staffs, with a female indigenous figure as a supporter on the dexter side and a rampant lion on the sinister side. The aluminium bronze outer ring carries the legend ESTADO DE TABASCO arcing along the upper periphery, with a row of raised dots forming an inner border around the ring. The mint mark Mo appears to the left of the shield and the date 2004 to the right, both within the silver centre, while the denomination $100 is inscribed in large raised letters at the base of the outer ring. |

Part of Mexico's ambitious "Estados de la República Mexicana" series launched in 2003, this issue represents one of 32 state-themed bimetallic coins released over roughly a decade by the Casa de Moneda. Tabasco, whose name likely derives from a Nahuatl phrase meaning "place where the soil is humid," sits at the base of the Gulf Coast and was the landing point of Hernán Cortés in 1519 before his march inland. The series was produced in both proof and circulation strikes, with collector versions achieving significantly higher premiums due to the silver content in the centre planchet.
