Obverse description The obverse features the Cuban national coat of arms at center, depicting a shield quartered with a key, a royal palm tree, and diagonal stripes, surmounted by a Phrygian cap above a fasces, and flanked by two laurel branches tied at the base with a ribbon. The legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 100 PESOS is inscribed along the lower rim. The weight designation 12 G. appears to the left and the gold fineness AU 0.917 to the right of the shield, both in the field. The design is rendered in a bold, high-relief style characteristic of Cuban commemorative gold coinage of this period.
