Obverse description The aluminum-bronze center features the Mexican national arms: an eagle displayed in left profile, perched upon a cactus growing from a rocky outcrop surrounded by water, devouring a serpent in its beak and talons. The device is rendered in high relief with fine detail. The aluminum outer ring bears the encircling legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS in raised Latin characters along the upper arc, flanked at the base by an ornamental wreath of oak and laurel branches tied with a ribbon. A fine beaded border runs along the inner edge of the ring.
