Obverse description The Mexican national arms occupy the bimetallic centre field, featuring the golden eagle displayed in left profile, perched upon a prickly pear cactus rising from a rocky islet, grasping a serpent in its beak and talons. The device is rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished proof field. An ornamental wreath of oak and laurel branches frames the lower portion of the design. The encircling legend reads ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS along the upper periphery of the silver ring.
