Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a shield divided into three sections: the upper portion bears a rising sun between two headlands and a golden key symbolizing Cuba's strategic position, the lower-left quarter displays the national Lone Star, and the lower-right quarter features a royal palm tree. The shield is surmounted by a Phrygian cap on a fasces and flanked by an oak branch to the left and a laurel branch to the right, both bound at the base. The circumferential legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper rim, while the denomination 100 PESOS is inscribed along the lower rim, with the specifications 12 G. and AU 0.917 placed at the left and right sides of the field respectively.

Reverse description The central field features the stylized emblem of the Non-Aligned Movement, rendered as a bold spiral composed of two interlocking crescent-like arcs encircling a granulated globe, evoking unity and international solidarity. To the right of the emblem, the word CUMBRE appears in the upper portion of the field, with the date 1979 directly below it, accompanied by an engraver's mint mark. The legend LA HABANA curves along the upper rim, while NO ALINEADOS runs along the lower-right periphery, both rendered in broad, even lettering characteristic of commemorative coinage of the period.
