100 Pesos Nayarit

Part of Mexico's ambitious 32-coin "Estados de la República Mexicana" series issued between 2003 and 2009, each piece dedicated to one of the country's 31 states plus the Federal District. Nayarit, on the Pacific coast, is home to the Huichol (Wixáritari) people, one of the few indigenous groups in Mexico to have largely resisted Spanish colonial religious conversion — a cultural persistence that made the state a natural subject for commemoration in a series explicitly designed to celebrate regional identity.

The silver-in-bronze bimetallic format was a deliberate choice by the Casa de Moneda to give the series a collectible character while maintaining nominal face value circulation status.
