The Banco Entre-Riano was one of several provincial Argentine banks that contracted American security printers in the late nineteenth century rather than relying on European houses — a practical choice given stronger commercial ties with New York than with London or Paris at that particular moment in Entre Ríos Province's economic development. The National Bank Note Company had by 1870 built a substantial Latin American client base, printing for governments and private banks across the continent.
The denomination in Moneda Boliviana — Bolivian currency units — reflects the persistent monetary fragmentation of the Argentine provinces before full national currency unification under the peso moneda nacional in 1881. Entre Ríos ran its own monetary conventions well into this period. PS#1665 is genuinely scarce; provincial Argentine private bank issues from this era survive in small numbers.
