正面描述 The Mexican national arms occupy the central field, depicting the heraldic eagle perched in profile atop a prickly pear cactus growing from a rocky outcrop, with a serpent grasped in its beak and right talon. The eagle's wings are raised and its detailed plumage is rendered in high relief. An oak branch and a laurel branch frame the base of the device, tied with a ribbon. The legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS curves along the upper periphery within a beaded border.

附加信息

Mexico's 1986 World Cup was the backup tournament — originally awarded to Colombia, which withdrew in 1983 citing the cost of infrastructure development. Mexico stepped in as host for the second time, having already staged the 1970 competition. The commemorative series that followed was issued beginning in 1985, well ahead of the tournament, and spans multiple denominations struck in both silver and base metal.

The .720 fineness is notable — lower than the .925 used in many contemporary world silver issues, a reflection of Mexico's ongoing peso crisis and the devaluations that had gutted the currency since 1982.
