正面铭文 REPUBLICA DE CUBA 100 PESOS
(Translation: Republic of Cuba 100 Pesos)
背面描述 A portrait bust of Leonor Molina, personifying the Republic, is depicted in left-facing profile at the center of the field, representing the first female effigy to appear on a Cuban coin. The patriotic motto PATRIA Y LIBERTAD arcs along the upper legend, while the weight specification 1 oz, the fineness 0,999, and the designation oro fino appear to the left of the portrait. The date 1988 is inscribed below the bust, with a mintmark at the lower left. The overall composition closely parallels the designs of KM#165 and KM#166.

附加信息

Trial strikes — pruebas — from Cuba's state mint in the late 1980s occupy an awkward position in Cuban numismatics: produced under a government with no functioning domestic gold market, for an export hard-currency program designed entirely to earn foreign exchange. The Leonor Molina 100 Pesos series was part of that broader CUBACOIN initiative, and pruebas like this one were submitted for official approval before bullion release, with surviving examples rarely escaping institutional hands.

JMA attribution confirms Cuban specialist Jorge Muñiz Ángel's documentation — the only serious cataloging effort for these approval pieces.
