Reverse description The reverse features a bold left-facing draped bust of General José de San Martín, the celebrated liberator of Argentina and Chile, rendered in high relief with considerable detail to his military uniform, epaulettes, and cravat. The circular legend 'GENERAL JOSE DE SAN MARTIN' arcs along the upper periphery, set within a beaded border. To the right of the portrait, the commemorative dates '1778' and '1978' are inscribed in two lines, marking the bicentennial of San Martín's birth. The portrait is executed in a realistic, neoclassical style consistent with Argentine coinage traditions of the period.
