Obverse description The Mexican national arms occupy the gold centre, depicting the heraldic eagle displayed in left profile, perched upon a nopal cactus growing from a rocky islet amid water, with a serpent clutched in its beak and talons. The design is rendered in high-relief proof finish against a mirror field. A wreath of oak and laurel branches frames the lower portion of the central device. The legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs along the upper periphery within the outer silver ring.
