The inscription 'BANCO' is set in an ornamental panel at the top and 'DE GUERRERO' in a matching panel at the bottom, with the numeral '100' repeated in guilloche medallions at the left and right flanks. El Banco de Guerrero was one of the smaller regional concession banks operating under Mexico's 1897 Ley General de Instituciones de Crédito, which granted state-chartered banks the right to issue notes redeemable in silver — a system that functioned reasonably well until the Revolution dismantled it entirely. The bank's notes circulated in Guerrero state during a period when federal control over the region was already fraying, and by 1914 the entire concession banking structure had collapsed under Carranza's monetary decrees.
ABNC produced the plates during a period when virtually every Latin American issuer of any standing used the New York firm. The series window of 1906–1914 means surviving dated examples can help narrow the political moment of issue considerably.
