Obverse description The silver centre features the Mexican national coat of arms — an eagle displayed facing left, perched upon a prickly pear cactus growing from a rocky islet, devouring a serpent in its beak and talons. The design is rendered in high relief with fine feather detailing. The aluminium bronze outer ring carries the national legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arching along the upper periphery. A laurel branch and an oak branch, tied with a ribbon, flank the base of the central device within the ring.
