Obverse description The silver centre features the Mexican national coat of arms in high relief: a Mexican golden eagle perched upon a prickly pear cactus growing from a rocky outcrop, devouring a serpent grasped in its beak and talon, with wings partially spread. The design follows the modern standardised rendering of the escudo nacional. The encircling aluminium bronze ring bears the national legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS along the upper arc, with an oak and laurel branch tied at the base flanking the inner disc.
