Obverse description Within the copper-nickel centre, a facing bust portrait of a Mapuche indigenous woman is depicted, adorned with a traditional headdress, draped garments, and an elaborate pectoral ornament. The legend MAPUCHE appears to the left of the portrait in the inner field. The aluminium bronze outer ring carries the circular legend REPUBLICA DE CHILE along the upper arc, with stylised Copihue (Lapageria rosea) floral motifs decorating the lower portion of the ring.
