Reverse description Central effigy presents a facing bust of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, Cuban independence hero, depicted with shoulder-length wavy hair, a mustache and goatee, and a formal cravat with bow tie, rendered in high relief with fine sculptural detail. The legend CARLOS MANUEL DE CESEDES arcs around the upper circumference, flanked by five-pointed stars at either side. The dates 1868 and 1977 appear in the left and right fields respectively, commemorating both the Grito de Yara and the centennial anniversary issue. The lower arc bears the inscription GRITO DE YARA in bold raised lettering. The reeded border frames the composition neatly.
