| Obverse description | The obverse features the national arms of Mexico rendered in high-relief proof finish, occupying the gold centre of this bimetallic issue. The arms depict the Mexican eagle displayed in left profile, perched upon a cactus and grasping a serpent in its beak and talons, the whole surrounded by a wreath of oak and laurel branches. The silver outer ring bears the circular legend 'ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS' in raised Latin characters, interrupted at intervals by decorative foliate elements. The contrasting textures of the frosted devices against the mirror-polished fields are characteristic of the proof striking technique. |
