Obverse description The silver centre features the Mexican national coat of arms, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched upon a prickly pear cactus growing from a rock in a lake, clutching a serpent in its beak and talons, rendered in high relief. The design is encircled by an oak and laurel wreath tied at the base, all set within the aluminium bronze outer ring. The legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs along the upper periphery of the ring in raised Latin letters.
