| 正面描述 | The Mexican national coat of arms occupies the silver centre field, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus growing from a rock in a lake, grasping a serpent in its beak and talons. The design is rendered in high relief within the bimetallic disc. The legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS curves along the upper portion of the aluminium bronze outer ring, flanked at the base by an ornamental laurel and oak branch motif. |

Part of the long-running Mexican states series issued between 2003 and 2010, this coin commemorates Baja California, which only achieved full statehood in 1952 — making it one of the last Mexican territories to do so after decades of federal territory status rooted in concerns about its sparse population and geographic isolation from the mainland. The series itself was struck in relatively modest quantities compared to circulation coinage, and the high silver content in the centre core has made many examples vulnerable to spotting from mishandling.
