The ABNCo contract for this series dates to a period when Banco de México was still consolidating its position as the sole issuing authority — a role it had held only since 1925. At the 100 Peso level, demand was largely institutional; the note didn't circulate freely among ordinary Mexicans, for whom it represented weeks of wages.
Known to develop a pronounced brown foxing along the margins under humid storage — a recurring complaint with ABNCo's cotton stock from this production window, not a sign of mishandling.
