Comments

Honduras issued 100-Peso notes through the República — rather than a central bank — because no such institution existed yet. The Banco Central de Honduras wasn't established until 1950, meaning the government itself was acting as direct issuer well into the twentieth century, an arrangement that gave individual series like this one an unusually direct political character.

The American Bank Note Company handled most of Central America's high-denomination printing during this period, often reusing engraved plate elements across regional clients. P#165B designates a signature variety within the 1927 series, indicating at least one earlier signing configuration exists — worth confirming against the specific signature block before cataloging.
