Issued to mark the centenary of the 1917 Constitution — drafted at Querétaro during the final, still-violent phase of the Mexican Revolution — this commemorative circulated alongside the regular polymer 100-peso series, distinguishing itself by returning to cotton paper. Five different signature combinations appeared across the run, reflecting genuine turnover at the Banco de México's senior level during the 2016–2017 window rather than any printing variation or error.
The 1917 Constitution was the first in the world to enshrine social and labor rights at the constitutional level, which gave Banco de México a credible occasion for the issue rather than pure ceremony.
