| Obverse description | The obverse is an overprint issue on an earlier El Banco Popular note dated Bogotá, 1 de Enero de 1882. At left, a reclining allegorical female figure is rendered in fine intaglio engraving. At right, an oval portrait vignette contains a bearded male figure. The denomination '100' appears in ornate numerals at upper left and upper right corners, with the bank title 'EL BANCO POPULAR' across the top and the value text 'CIEN PESOS' in bold script at centre, accompanied by a 'en moneda corriente' overprint stamp. |

| Reverse description | The reverse is printed in a single orange-brown tone and carries a dense guilloche underprint centred on the denomination numeral '100' within an ornate lathe-work frame. The bank title 'EL BANCO POPULAR' is set across the upper portion of the central panel. A text block at the top of the note states that this bill circulates provisionally as a Banco Nacional note in accordance with a decree of October 1899. Border ornaments of repeating star and geometric motifs frame the entire composition. |
