| Additional information |
The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic has never controlled a functioning economy or maintained a working monetary system — it governs, at best, refugee camps in southwestern Algeria and a thin strip of liberated territory. These coins were struck for the international collector market, not for circulation, produced under license by foreign mints as a revenue stream for a government-in-exile recognized by roughly 80 states but not by the country that physically holds the territory it claims.
