| Beschrijving voorzijde | The territorial arms of Macau occupies the centre of the field, depicting the Portuguese shield surmounted by a mural crown, flanked by two kneeling winged angel supporters. The dexter angel holds a cross staff and the sinister angel holds an armillary sphere. A scrolled ribbon below the shield bears the motto in two parts. The issuer name MACAU arcs along the upper legend, thirteen five-pointed stars are arranged around the periphery, and the date 1983 appears in large numerals along the lower field. |

Macau's lunar series issues from the early 1980s were among the first official silver bullion-adjacent commemoratives produced under Portuguese administration before the 1999 handover to China — a period when Macao's mint authority was actively courting collector markets in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia. The 1983 Pig issue had a mintage of just 5,000 pieces, making it one of the scarcer entries in the run.
