Macau's Grand Prix, first held in 1954 over public streets in the Guia circuit, became one of Asia's most significant motorsport events and the subject of several commemorative issues. This particular variant — struck without sponsor logos — exists because negotiations over commercial rights and licensing fees were unresolved at the time of minting, forcing the Imprensa Nacional to produce a sanitized version alongside, or in place of, the logoed issue.
KM#11 is the scarcer of the two known variants for this year.
