备注	Banco Nacional Ultramarino had been issuing currency in Macau since 1906, operating under a concession from the Portuguese colonial government that gave it sole right of issue on the peninsula. By 1973, that arrangement had less than two decades left — the 1974 Carnation Revolution in Lisbon would begin unraveling Portugal's overseas empire almost immediately, though Macau itself wouldn't revert to Chinese administration until 1999. Bradbury Wilkinson printed the note at their New Malden facility, where they handled much of Britain's colonial and overseas currency work through this period. The Pick 53 series is the last major BNU issue before the political upheaval that reshaped the territory's institutions entirely.
