| Obverse description | The obverse presents a vignette of the Grand Mosque of Oualata, one of Mauritania's ancient ksour settlements, set against a multicolour guilloche underprint. Arabic inscriptions identify the issuing authority and denomination, with the numeral value and ornamental geometric patterning characteristic of the polymer series. |

Mauritania's switch to polymer for this series coincided with the 2018 redenomination, in which the ouguiya was revalued at 10 to 1 — making this note technically equivalent to the old 1,000 ouguiya it replaced. G+D's Leipzig facility has been the primary supplier for Mauritanian polymer notes, continuing a relationship with the BCM that predates the redenomination reform.
The see-through window is integrated into the substrate rather than applied as a patch — standard G+D polymer construction, but worth noting because early BCM polymer issues from other suppliers had adhesion problems with applied security elements in desert heat.
