Opmerkingen	The 1992 series marked Banco de México's transition to the nuevo peso, a redenomination that lopped three zeros off the old peso following years of inflation that had rendered small denominations functionally worthless. One hundred nuevos pesos represented 100,000 of the old currency — a figure that would have been unremarkable a decade earlier but by 1992 reflected how thoroughly the peso's purchasing power had collapsed since the 1982 debt crisis. Mexico brought production in-house for this series rather than contracting abroad, a deliberate policy shift toward self-sufficient note manufacturing at the Banco de México's own facilities.
