| Reverse description | Central design features a detailed frontal view of the Chorten Kora stupa, a large whitewashed Buddhist monument located in Trashiyangtse, Bhutan, depicted with its characteristic hemispherical dome, multi-tiered harmika, and tapering spire surmounted by a finial. Smaller subsidiary chortens are visible at the base flanking the main structure, set upon a broad platform with steps. The legend CHORTEN KORA arcs along the upper periphery in Latin script, with an inner border of beads. The denomination 100 appears prominently in the lower field, with NGULTRUM inscribed below in smaller Latin characters. |

| Additional information |
Chorten Kora, located in Trashiyangtse in far eastern Bhutan, was built in the early 18th century by Zhabdrung's nephew Ngagi Rinchen, who modeled it directly on the Boudhanath stupa in Nepal — reportedly after traveling to Kathmandu and bringing back a clay impression of the original. The commissioning of commemorative gold issues by the Royal Monetary Authority has closely tracked Bhutan's constitutional transition, which formally completed in 2008 when Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck was crowned the fifth Druk Gyalpo.
