Obverse description The Bhutanese national emblem occupies the central field, rendered in high relief within a raised circular border: two fearsome dragons (Druk) in sinuous confrontation flank a central Dharma wheel (dharmachakra), with a jewel at the base. The surrounding legend reads '1984' at the top and 'BHUTAN' to the right in Latin script, with '100' below and the denomination 'NGULTRUM' to the left, also in Latin. Dzongkha script inscriptions appear in the upper left and lower right of the border area. The Valcambi mint mark (CHI) is visible in the lower portion of the inner circle.
