Opmerkingen

Indonesia's 1949 100 New Rupiah was issued during one of the most unstable periods of the young republic's existence — the Dutch military actions (Agresi Militer) had only recently ended, and the transfer of sovereignty from the Netherlands wasn't completed until December 1949. Currency control was a fractured affair, with multiple competing note series circulating simultaneously across different territories, some under Dutch authority, some under Republican control.

The "New Rupiah" designation distinguished this series from earlier Republican issues and from the NICA (Netherlands Indies Civil Administration) currency the Dutch had tried to impose. Loekman Hakim served as Minister of Finance during this transitional period.
