Obverse description Two finely detailed rats rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field, depicted foraging among scattered peanuts and seeds. The upper arc bears the Chinese legend reading 'Republic of China Year 97' (中華民國九十七年), while the cyclical year characters 戊子 (Wu Zi, the Year of the Rat) appear to the right. The issuer's name 中央銀行 (Central Bank) is inscribed along the lower arc in bold Chinese characters. The design is executed in a naturalistic, finely engraved style befitting a proof commemorative issue.
