| Obverse description | Central field depicts a three-quarter frontal view of a Taiwan High Speed Rail train (THSR) travelling at speed along an elevated viaduct, with a stylised mountain range to the left and a city skyline featuring Taipei 101 in the background to the right. The design is rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. The date 2006 appears in Latin numerals at the upper centre of the inner field.
