Monopoly banknotes have gone through several distinct print runs since Waddingtons standardised the UK edition in the 1930s, and the colour coding — yellow for £100 — has remained broadly consistent across decades despite multiple redesigns of the note faces. Hasbro acquired Waddingtons in 1994, and subsequent printings reflect that transition in subtle typographic and tonal shifts that dedicated collectors use to date individual sets.
No legal tender status, obviously, but a complete unplayed set in original condition commands genuine attention from game ephemera collectors.
