Hasbro introduced the MEGA Edition to push Monopoly toward longer, higher-stakes gameplay, inflating the currency denominations accordingly — the 100 Monopoly Dollar note being the mid-range workhorse of that set. No central bank, no legal tender status, no redemption mechanism. It exists purely as a game component, and its specifications were driven by tray geometry and cardboard production costs, not monetary policy.
