Nepal's first government-issued paper currency series, of which this 100 Mohru is the highest denomination, appeared under the Rana Prime Minister Padma Shamsher's brief reformist administration and continued under his successors. The Mohru was a Nepali unit distinct from the Indian rupee, though exchange with Indian currency was constant and informal throughout the period — a practical reality that complicated the note's actual monetary authority in border regions.
The two signatures reflect a transition in the Muluki Khana (national treasury) office. Janak Raj Pandit's appearance on the earliest examples ties this note specifically to the 1945 inaugural printing.
