Brazil's Thesouro Nacional contracted the Banque de France to produce this 10th-print iteration of the 100 Mil Réis, an arrangement that reflected both the prestige of the Paris atelier and the chronic shortfall in domestic printing capacity during the early Republic. Duval and Crosbie were not occasional contractors — they were among the core talent producing high-security intaglio work for the Banque de France's own notes, which made their involvement here a genuine security credential rather than a marketing gesture.
The watermark remains the sole mechanical security feature, a relatively thin line of defence by 1907 standards. Earlier prints in this series are considerably scarcer; by the 10th print, production volumes had climbed substantially.
