B designation marks a second lithographic run of this wartime-adjacent issue, produced domestically at the Bank of Finland's own printing works — an arrangement that had become practical necessity after Finland's isolation during the Continuation War effectively cut off access to foreign security printers. Over twelve million printed is a substantial run for a country of Finland's size, reflecting postwar monetary pressure rather than routine demand.
Finland's currency situation in 1945 was complicated by reparations obligations to the Soviet Union imposed under the Moscow Armistice, which placed serious strain on state finances and accelerated note production across denominations.
