| Opmerkingen |
Finland's post-independence monetary situation in the early 1920s was complicated by severe wartime inflation and the need to assert control over a currency still psychologically tied to the Russian imperial ruble. The 1922 series, of which this Litt B belongs, was part of a sustained effort by the Bank of Finland to stabilize confidence in the markka through domestically produced notes — the Finnish Government Printing House taking over from foreign printers used in earlier decades.
The Litt B designation distinguishes this from earlier letter variants within the same type, reflecting a plate refresh rather than a design overhaul. Serial number prefix conventions changed between letters, which helps date batches more precisely than the face year alone suggests.
