The 100 Maloti sits at the top of the denominations Lesotho issued under this series, which ran across a decade-long span — unusual longevity for a high-value note in a country with persistent inflationary pressure. Thomas De La Rue's involvement here is routine for southern African central banks of the period, but the relatively sparse security package (watermark only, at this catalog specification) is worth noting on a centennial denomination, particularly given that neighboring South Africa's Rand, with which the Maloti is pegged at par, carried more robust features on comparable notes by the late 1990s.
