The Banque de Syrie et du Liban was a French-chartered private institution — its note-issuing authority in Lebanon survived long after Syrian independence in 1946, an increasingly awkward arrangement that persisted until the Banque du Liban was established in 1964 and took over currency functions entirely. This 100 Livres note falls squarely within that final chapter, printed by De La Rue across an eleven-year span that bridged the formal separation of the two monetary systems.
The extended date range on P#60 reflects reorders rather than a single print run — De La Rue's contract records indicate successive deliveries throughout the late 1950s as Lebanese demand outpaced the earlier stock.
