Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena facing right, wearing a Corinthian helmet adorned with a griffin as the crest device. A pearl necklace encircles her neck. The portrait is rendered in fine Hellenistic style with carefully detailed facial features and helmet ornamentation characteristic of Syracusan royal coinage of the early third century BC.

Reverse description A winged thunderbolt displayed horizontally at center, with outstretched wings above and tapering zigzag bolts to either side, rendered in high relief with finely beaded wing feathers. The royal legend ΑΓΑΘΟΚΛΕΟΣ arcs across the upper field and ΒΑΣΙΛΕΟΣ occupies the lower field, with the control mark or officina letter T below in the exergual area. The bold, well-spaced lettering is typical of the Syracusan royal mint under Agathocles.
