| Obverse description | Bare-headed bust of Victor Emmanuel II facing left, with characteristic flowing hair and prominent curled moustache and sideburns, rendered in high relief in the neoclassical style by engraver Giuseppe Ferraris, whose name appears in small lettering below the truncation. The circular legend VITTORIO EMANUELE II runs along the upper periphery, while the date 1872 is placed in the lower field, all within a fine beaded border. |
