背面描述 The reverse presents a richly detailed scene of a bearded fisherman seated in a small boat, rendered in a naturalistic, almost sculptural style characteristic of Monassi's engraving. The figure is depicted in three-quarter view facing right, one hand gripping the gunwale of the vessel while waves lap beneath the hull. To the left, the inscription PROVA and the fineness mark Ag 986 appear in the field, confirming the trial-strike status and silver purity. The denomination LIRE 100 is inscribed in bold block numerals to the right of the figure, and the engraver's signature MONASSI is incused along the lower border.

附加信息

San Marino's 1972 coinage program marked the republic's re-entry into regular silver issues after a long gap, and trial strikes from this period were produced in limited numbers to test die alignment and planchet quality before authorizing full runs. The .986 fineness is unusually high — standard Italian 100 Lire pieces of the same period used no silver at all, having converted to stainless steel in 1956.

Trial strikes of San Marino issues from this era rarely entered any official distribution channel, typically retained by the mint or exchanged between national minting authorities.
