| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central design features a stylized, fragmented globe representing the wounded Earth, rendered in an expressionist manner evoking devastation and suffering. Radiating star-like elements surround the broken terrestrial sphere, filling the field with a sense of cosmic anguish. The engraver's name J. VIVARELLI appears within the design. The encircling legend reads LA TERRA FERITA DALL'INUTILE STRAGE, translating as 'The Earth Wounded by the Useless Massacre', a powerful anti-war statement that defines the commemorative theme of this issue. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
San Marino issued this piece as part of its annual themed coinage program, which the republic used throughout the 1970s to stake out moral and political positions well beyond what a microstate might otherwise command in international attention. The 1977 series carried an anti-war theme — unusually pointed language for circulating coinage from any issuer of the period.
KM#69 is common in uncirculated condition, as San Marino's commemorative output from this era was heavily absorbed by collectors rather than spent.
