| 背面描述 | Pope Pius XII, vested in full pontifical regalia, is depicted striking the Holy Door with a hammer to open it, surrounded by a group of attending prelates, clergy, and kneeling faithful rendered in detailed low relief. Rays of divine light emanate from the doorway above, emphasising the sacred character of the Jubilee rite. The denomination L. 100 appears in the lower exergue, while the circular legend STATO DELLA CITTA DEL VATICANO runs along the upper periphery. The scene commemorates the ceremonial opening of the Holy Door of St. Peter's Basilica for the Holy Year 1950. |

The 1950 Holy Year was declared by Pius XII in February of that year, drawing an estimated 3 million pilgrims to Rome — the largest jubilee attendance to that point. Vatican coinage struck for Holy Years carries both commemorative and circulating intent, though pieces in this condition rarely saw pocket wear given the pilgrim trade in devotional keepsakes.
KM#48 represents one of the lower-mintage gold issues from Pius XII's long pontificate, which ran from 1939 through 1958.
