| 裏面の説明 | Printed in brown on a grey guilloche underprint. The heading GIRATE appears in large serif type at the top. The centre is occupied by a circular guilloche medallion enclosing a vignette of an arcaded urban building, likely a street scene in Udine, with the denomination LIRE 100 repeated in large numerals above and below the medallion. The endorsement text of the Associazione Commercianti Provincia di Udine and the circulation restriction notice are set in letterpress type at top and foot respectively. |

Banca del Friuli issued this emergency scrip following the catastrophic Friuli earthquakes of May and September 1976, which killed nearly a thousand people and left hundreds of thousands homeless across the Udine and Pordenone provinces. With the regional economy in shock and coins vanishing from circulation almost immediately, several local Friulian banks produced low-denomination paper tokens under emergency authorization to keep basic commerce functioning. This note is a direct artifact of that crisis period.
The 1976–1977 dating reflects the span of active use before normal coinage supply recovered. These issues were never legal tender in the strict sense and were redeemed and largely destroyed once the emergency passed — survivorship is accordingly limited.
